WHO IS PROVAIL?

PROVAIL is a disability services organization where people of all abilities are empowered to shape their own futures. With more than 500 dedicated staff and over 1,000 individuals served each year, PROVAIL stands as one of Washington State’s leaders in disability services, providing excellence in residential services, supported employment, and clinical services.

As a nonprofit rooted in dignity, choice, and inclusion, PROVAIL partners with individuals and families to help people living with disabilities pursue the lives they choose — not the lives others imagine for them. Serving communities across King, Snohomish, and Pierce counties, PROVAIL is exploring opportunities to expand its reach throughout western Washington. Its programs focus on three essential areas of life, creating pathways for independence, connection, and meaningful participation in the community.

WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE TO BE A BOARD MEMBER AT PROVAIL?

Board members are expected to actively participate in annual retreats, quarterly board meetings, and monthly committee-level work. Board members are also strongly encouraged to engage themselves and their networks in a broad spectrum of fundraising and advocacy opportunities that support PROVAIL’s vision to:

  • See a world where all people live life based on their own choices.
  • See a community that maximizes accessibility and inclusion.
  • We see PROVAIL as a community leader, working with others, to champion creative initiatives that improve the quality of life for people with disabilities.

PROVAIL’s mission is deeply personal to me as a person with a disability. I’ve been fortunate to have a strong support network throughout my life, and serving on the board allows me to give back to a community that has given me so much. It’s a full-circle moment—one that is both meaningful and fulfilling.

Every hour spent and every dollar raised translates into real, positive change for a historically marginalized population right here in the Pacific Northwest. Witnessing that impact firsthand is incredibly rewarding.
