The Rubicon Landscape Group (“RLG”) consists of the Rubicon Programs Landscape-non-profit(“RPI”), Rubicon Enterprises-non-profit (REI”) and the Rubicon Landscape Corporation-for profit (“RLC”). Rubicon Landscape began over 30 years ago as an enterprise business of Rubicon Programs and has and continues to support Rubicon Programs life-changing work and mission to transform East Bay communities by equipping people to break the cycle of poverty. Today, this mission-based focus shapes our approach. We pride ourselves on exceptional service, quality production while making a significant, positive impact on our local communities. 

 

The RLG is a nearly $5.7M business enterprise with maintenance lines of business and holds major federal, municipal, city maintenance contracts such as the City of San Francisco, Veterans Affairs, the US Coast Guard and several municipalities.  The RLG is currently in the process of reorganizing itself to improve its competitive stance and to maximize RLG’s true potential. This includes reengaging with the installation line of business. The RLG consists approximately 50 employees and a senior team that includes four managers. This position could also serve as a Responsible Managing Employee (RME) for a Rubicon Landscape business entity, thus making the possession of a valid State of California C-27 Landscape Contractor license a requirement for the position. This requirement may be waived if successful candidate demonstrates the ability to receive the license no later than three months after appointment.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for building strong customer relations and customer retention by delivering excellent quality product on maintenance and installation services; maximize extra work sales.

 

Build and train a high-performing team. Inspire leadership; develop an environment where self-motivation is prevalent among business development personnel; resource planning; hiring, employee engagement and performance management; investigation and resolution of personnel issues;

 

Achieve financial targets, and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

 

Responsible for the efficient and safe operation of all vehicles and equipment, including but not limited to responsibility for compliance, safety and risk mitigation.

 

Work with the Vice President of Landscape, managers and supervisors in the development of best business practices and key performance indicators and monitoring systems of same.

 

Perform Project Management of Maintenance and Installation field operations meeting contract goals and objectives; achieving productivity targets and for delivering on any and all other performance measures.

 

Ability to equitably balancing for-profit methods and efficiencies with non-profit approaches and sensitivities.

 

Work collaboratively with the Vice President of Landscape and the Chief of Finance and Landscape in the development of strategic plans and implement initiatives of same.

COMPENTENCIES

Extensive experience and solid expertise managing mid to large-scale commercial and governmental landscape maintenance and installation projects; includes hands-on familiarity and proficiency with production, job costing, budgeting, scheduling and material purchasing. Must possess a C27 Contractor’s License issued by the State of California or demonstrated ability to receive this license within three months of hiring date.

 

Knowledge of maintenance service, high-end landscaping and installation bidding processes.

 

Proven leadership, sophisticated supervisory abilities; excellent communication skills and organizational abilities; strong networking and negotiating proficiencies.

Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to cultivate professional and business partnerships.

 

This position requires the incumbent to travel frequently, often on short-notice, among Rubicon sites and to meet in person with stakeholders. A valid California driver’s license, a clear driving record and proof of personal vehicle insurance coverage are required to be maintained at all times for this position.

 

 

This position requires the incumbent to travel efficiently throughout the Bay Area and therefore proof of a valid driver license, current auto insurance, and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report are required;
